Is there anything, anywhere that crams so much joy into so little space?
If you know, you know – this is Sweden’s qualifier for Eurovision, and while that might sound like extraordinary torture to Brits whose low expectations have been set by years of snarky commentary and terrible UK entries, this competition puts dozens of actual hits onto a huge stage to see what would happen if Sweden had all the Eurovision entries. Which would probably improve things.
Our family has been incredibly into it this year, picking out an early contender which seemed like it could have had it all sewn up in heat 1. (We were also so happy with it at Fun Kids that we just played it for a month anyway as a great song in its own right. The produced version for streaming/radio sounds better than the TV version, I think, but let’s not worry about that here.)
Spoiler alert: this didn’t win! But it came second to this song whose visuals probably gave it the edge and won it a place at Eurovision.
You can enjoy the songs and the contest from anywhere in the world. The broadcaster has made everything available on their “SVT Play” site and app, and the videos are all on YouTube.
Enjoy!
